OUR HISTORY

Republic Plumbing was started in 1988 by me, Andrew Ward.  Orginally called Ward Plumbing and then Andrew Ward  Plumbing, I changed it to Republic in 1997.  A few years later I tested and recieved my HVAC license and changed the name of the company yet again to Republic Plumbing, Heating and Cooling
I have been in the plumbing trade all of my life up to this point, my Grandfather was a plumber as were my Father and three Uncles.  I guess being a plumber was hard to avoid with that many family members in the plumbing business.
I worked for my uncle during the summers as a floor sweep, I guess I was about 9 years old.  Ray Ward let me go on estimates and from him I learned a lot about caring about your customer and empathy for others situation.  A lot of times plumbers have to repair things that homeowners had not planned on and that can be tough on a tight budget.

I grew up in the Madison area and graduated from Madison High School in 1975. And yes I cruised Madison Square, more times than I remember.

From those days at my Grandfathers old company I grew from a floor sweep to an apprentice working along side the plumbers that worked there.  Those were good times, some of the men I have learned under were truly craftsmen, men like Dick Meyers and my uncles Ray,Tommy and Rick Ward, to name but a few.  You cannot under-estimate the benifit of working under a good tudor.  Learning plumbing by reading a book is almost impossible, you have to see it and do it under the watchful eye of someone who knows how to do it right. One of the things we miss now in our current work enviroment is an apprentice working along side a plumber.  I tested and recieved my Journeymans License during these years.

I left my uncles to try my hand at new construction and to see the world, well at least the other side of town.  I have worked for some very good companies here in Nashville, Wehby, Buchi, Fann, Byrd and J. W. Berry.  It was while I was working at Berry that I tested and recieved my Master Plumbing License.  By this time I had been married and was welcoming my first daughter Tosha Marie Ward.

While I had not thought much about starting a plumbing company, I knew when the time came it was what I wanted to do.  By the time 1988 rolled around I was a Father again, William Brandon Ward had arrived.  I had also met and remarried Leigh Ann Milom.  She and I have three children, Nikki, Becky and Abby, wow!

There you have a basic history of your plumber.  I love what I do, I have great people to work with, I have great customers that I care about, I have been blessed.  We have grown from me to 5 plumbers and two helpers and three office staff.  Our office is in Madison so we can service Hendersonville/Goodlettsville/White House areas and because of how close we are to I-65 we also service the Nashville/Brentwood/greenhills/Franklin areas. As a matter of fact we work in all those areas everyday.

We just finished with our move to our new office and shop here in Madison.  As you can see on the picture page we will have more room in which to operate.  The new address is 401 Douglas St., please come by and visit.

I am currently President of the Nashville Area Plumbing & Mechanical Association, Canidate for Minisrty for The Cumberland Presbyterian Church,  I answer questions in the Greater Nashville House & Home magazine, and some time in between try keep the grass mowed.

I was just recently givin the opportunity to pastor Historic Dry Fork Church in Bethpage TN.  This church dates back to 1831 and is such a wonderful place.  I posted pictures on the picture page.  I still work full time and prepare a lesson every week, so if you see me acting strange, it's lack of sleep most likely.

Leigh Ann, my wife works for me part time which can be interesting sometimes, but she knows the business as well as I do, and a lot better with the money part than me.

Speaking of Tosha, she  just had my first granddaughter, Evelyn Grace Barber.  Chris her husband is a great cabinet builder if you need one.  Pictures of Evie on the picture page.

I hope you never have plumbing problems but if you do we would love to help you resolve them. We enjoy what we do, I hope it shows here and in all we do.

Every effort is being made so that you will find your experience with Republic Plumbing a good one. Everyone here appreciates the fact that you have trusted us with your homes and offices and workplaces all these years.  If you don't find that to be true I am just a phone call away.
